Music Tourist Board campaigns in action from Sept-003

Music Tourist Board would like to try to raise money for the penniless revolution that is making the big differences - imagine the benefits to all if 100-1,000 were given betwen one and ten thousand quid to fuel their music obsessed daydreams, stay in business etc? As silly money is being thrown left right and centre at the moment by the many rich - it's worth a shot. If anybody's getting a 50 million pound deal, perhaps could spare a million - that would help some of music's friends around UK and Ireland... Know any music obsessed extremely rich people? It's worth asking if they could please Share The Joy a bit!

Music Tourist Board - Girls (and Boys) On Film! Is the scene around your band xciting as fug? Please get in touch. The underground pop xplosion may not be televised but it will certainly be screened. EMAIL MUSIC TOURIST BOARD with the juice. Watch this space for updates...

REAL IS THE NEW COOL - the world of money has gone far enough and already too far. life is getting too ridiculous. music is the way forward, money only if it's karma is changed from the root of all evil to the tool of random kindness and senseless acts of beauty... PASSION NOT FASHION - sure image is part of the pop world, but STYLE IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER - good to see "uncools" like Radiohead and The Darkness on nationwide music covers, heh heh! Also a picture/photo exhibition in 2004.

Alternative Rock Idol - Too good for sign-n-drop. Worth developing and supporting. Career potential bands for present and future. Good songs and obvious talent. Charisma/star quality. Pro Active and determined. We started by gathering names via email, crowd reaction and the music tourist board meeting on the 18th. Looking for contacts / websites etc and plans for October 003 to March 004. It's now happening! Iinitial feedback : A.R.I. Page.

The Common Party - local Green councillor helping spread the word about Music Tourist Board. Music & Nature go hand in hand. Thank you to Blair Out http://www.blairout.com/ for help with our aim to get a day of suggestions (Suggestions Bureau style) in the House Of Commons.

Wanted - venues in LaLaLand - especially the b*l*u*e trail (intimate, star breaker trail that S*M*A*S*H and The Bluetones toured both centuries. (1) for bands with no agents to swap gigs on and (2) because Twinstar Revolution is upon us next year. Get involved - contact Daniel Twinstar.

Music on the education syllabus. Not just learning to play instruments, but also the positive and inspiring modern history of music. The most positive lesson that can be taught. Might even connect with enough people to help with truancy problem also. Ongoing... In the mean time, hats off to reggae DJ, Natural Mystic of Fusion 107.3fm who is already on the wavelength / into our faith in music, and has a positive CD doing the rounds of Rockalnds area primary schools. NOV 003 - ROSEY OF R*E*P*E*A*T in Times Educational supplementary, punk teacher shows how it's done. DEC 003 - hats off to Big Brovaz with a positive message for education too.

We need music venues to nurture our future...

Music Tourist Board is already involved in a number of projects and nosy as hell. The other day we were in Camden, flyering. The place has lost a lot of the soul that made it such a buzz to hang out there, due to being transformed into one giant shopping mall.

With Kings Road and Kensington Market, (two historic music talent hotbeds), sold to unaffordable greed, the capital of music keeps dissing it's musical heritage. (they'll never take Rocklands alive tho, three cheers for Lewisham Council who upheld the local's protest at bloody Starbucks trying to clone the area, 51st state identikit style that can be confusing now that many towns and cities are looking the same). Yeuck.

With the legacy of the rock'n'roll years being five decades old, you'd think that a 65 year old venue with a legendary history would be treasured as a part of our heritage. Aah but capitalism is shutting down counter culture and plugging us deeper, instead into The System's matrix. Music and counter culture are national treasures of these islands, it's time they were treated as such. I'd suggest pledging your support to save Camden's Electric Ballroom.

...and we definitely need to look after and respect our musicians

Another thing bothering many bands and fans are the number of unsigned (i.e. penniless) musicians that have sufficient potential to attract firm fans and excellent feedback, but insufficient room for helpful exposure from the established music media. They can't afford adverts to say their single/tour etc is and only those on an approved shortlist of currently cool have an outlet for their news. This can't go on, we need all kinds of musical talent in order to compete in the future. If something is unfashionable or uncool then it's basically a bit more unique. If the music proves itself to music fans, then give them a bloody hand, cool or otherwise. Labels aren't developing bands now - it's quick success or else. That Tory Bliar and his mob are making things as hard as possible for music too. Things have got to change. The Friend is making a big impact on changing them.
